An exhibition of oil paintings by Paul Rees

This exhibition of paintings is based on two themes related to the ‘theatrical’:

One is of actors in preparation in their (often quiet) private backstage world - before stepping onto an exposed ‘public’ stage -  where they will perform to the public.

And then there is the ‘public’ face of theatre: audiences arriving; theatre stewards in the auditorium, attending to customers taking their seats; and the anticipation from seated patrons waiting for ‘curtain up’.

Both actors and audience are, in their own ways, ‘on show’ - albeit with different mindsets - one, to entertain… and the other, to be entertained.
